Children in the Arts
The Arts encompass a variety of creative expressions and obviously are not limited to the basics that first come to mind, like painting or dance. Playing a musical instrument, mastering a sport, arranging flowers, writing a story and making food can likewise be totally as inventive and equally as captivating and delightful.I enjoy photographing Children in the Arts. I have such respect for the discipline each of these endeavors requires. I appreciate the children’s dedication to be exceptional at what they do. I understand the hard work and sacrifice that mastery demands. Many have aspirations of becoming professional. Even with the limited hour or so that I spend with them in a session, I am conscious of encouraging them and relating the power of “can do thinking.” When they tell me their current passion is what they want to do when they grow up, I simply say, “Someone’s got to do it. It might as well be you”. They nod in agreement and smile.
